Noah
Approx. 5m x 1m
Coiled and stitched plant materials from the site (reeds, rushes, bracken, bog myrtle upon willow cradle) at Shapwick Heath Nature Reserve, Somerset, UK
The figure of Noah, and his being cast adrift in one of the pools on the reserve, was the culmination of the Shapwick Giant community project. The project, that involved various schools, community groups and individuals, began with a story and public sheep shearing. The wool was then used for making a felt shawl for the giant.
